HOME

From time to time, we have Burmese cats or kittens available to be re-homed.  We will be offering them to responsible, loving homes with the understanding that they are  not to be sent to a shelter and will be given a chance to find another loving home if it doesn't work out.  We will gladly help you look for new homes in the event you can't keep them.  Any re-homed cats we help find new homes do not come with any guarantees from CDG, as we do this in an effort to find wonderful cats in bad situations good homes.

We also have retiring queens from our own cattery.  They have given us joy, done their job, and deserve a loving home to live out their lives.

After an adult cat has left us, she bonds with her new home and generally forgets her old home in time.  Bringing her back here is not normally done as the existing cats do not welcome her and so we ask you keep the cat while we try to find a good, loving, responsible home for her.  We have many calls for these cats so it doesn't take a long time to re-home her.  I say "her" because we seldom have males to re-home unless they come from another home.  They are most always altered and always have current shots and are wormed.

Just make sure the cat is welcome in your home and there are no allergies to cats before you decide to get any cat or even other pets to join your household.

WHY GET AN ADULT?

From time to time a breeder no longer needs a cat in their breeding or show program. These young adults are usually altered and go to new homes. After spending a few years with us, they have most of their lives to live. We also recommend that kitten buyers have two cats. Getting one of our adults as well as a kitten is a cost-effective way to do this.  We don't like to place adult cats in a home with existing cats as they often don't ever make friends and it is a constant hiss and spit.  Kittens are readily accepted into an adult cat household.  They usually get along well with dogs.

1. They cost less than kittens.

2. They have stronger immune systems than kittens

3. They are pretty well trained to use their scratching posts and to stay off curtains and out of closets.

4. Older cats are less rambunctious than kittens and get into less trouble.

5. We recommend that most kittens have another cat to keep them company. A young adult is a cost effective way to get a second cat.

6. A Burmese's life span is generally 15 to 20 years. You still have many years left with your cat.
